- Review the clinician's decision: A clinician decides whether to prescribe, request more information, or recommend referral.
- Review follow-up requirements: Follow-up may include testosterone, hematocrit, estradiol, and PSA testing according to the clinical assessment. Monitoring does not eliminate treatment risks. Do not change a dose or add medication without prescriber instructions.

What risks should I discuss?
Testosterone can suppress sperm production and cause infertility, testicular shrinkage, acne, fluid retention, breast enlargement, and increased hematocrit. Testosterone is contraindicated in men with active prostate cancer. Sleep apnea and prostate-related concerns require review. Discuss cardiovascular history, prostate or breast cancer, and plans for pregnancy before treatment.
